109 days to IM Malaysia - Monday 24th June

Training for a triathlon in Malaysia means tackling the swim leg with diligence and precision. This Monday, I completed a 2550m swim in 1:08 hours, maintaining a steady pace of 2:03 minutes per 100m.

Swimming is a crucial component ti start well the Ironman, not just as the first leg but as a discipline that sets the tone for the entire race. It's essential to build endurance, perfect technique, and maintain a consistent pace. In Malaysia, the tropical climate  adds an extra challenge, making it vital to adapt to the warm, humid conditions. Incorporating regular swim sessions helps acclimatize the body and improves overall stamina.

Additionally, swimming enhances cardiovascular fitness, which benefits both cycling and running segments. For triathletes, a strong swim can mean a smoother transition and more energy for the latter parts of the race. As I push through each lap, I remind myself of the importance of technique—efficient strokes and proper breathing can shave precious seconds off my time.

Training in open water whenever possible also helps simulate race conditions, preparing both mind and body for the big day. Stay tuned for more updates as I continue this exciting journey towards the Ironman Malaysia!
